My Experiences with Globalization

By definition globalization is the integration of idea, tradition, culture, technology and many more things. Even in my own lifetime I have seen globalization occurring in leaps. When I was a kid people who had a flip phone were tech savvy, not everyone had one and if they did they weren't always constantly on them. In the short amount of time that I have been on this planet I have seen technology with phones, social media, news, and weather increase immensely. People are glued to the screens that they hold into their hands. Globalization has led to the personalization of people. Even so technology is a great tool for people to have. We can share ideas, especially cultural ideas easier, faster, more efficient, and learn about someone else's beliefs in the time it takes to eat lunch. Three of the biggest ways  globalization has effected my culture are as follows.
First social media has had an incredible influence to my culture. One word..Facebook, everyone has one. People are so addicted to it that it has become apart of many peoples daily routine.
Second is texting. I remember when you had to struggle to type out a thirty word text message, get aggravated and resort to calling the person you were wanting to talk to. Now texting has become so easy and fast that people rarely want to talk on the phone, let alone in person anymore. And the phrase we have all become accustomed to is, " just text me."
Third would be the fast food industry. I remember when I would get home from school my family would sit down and have dinner together, and talk about daily events, now everyone is so focused on rushing and keeping up its easier to just swing by McDonalds, get a cheeseburger, eat, and get back to moving along.

Scottish/Irish Culture

When going to another country there are always going to be traditions and culture differences that we are not used to. This means when we go on our trip this summer that we need to be aware of the many culture differences that are there and respect every one of them. We are the visitors of these countries and it is our duty to be respectful of their traditions. Something we should all be doing is researching the many different traditions these new places have and apply them to our trip. We are going to such a beautiful and culturally rich place and it is amazing that we will be getting the chance to share in their traditions and learn about the beauty of their culture.

Some of the traditions that we need to be aware of are
1. Handshakes are very important. It is a sign of respect.
2. Respect. The Irish people are keen to respectful behavior. So be on your best behavior!
3.Fisish all your food during a meal! It is considered rude not to clean your plate...so EAT UP!

Lets have a wonderful time but also remember that being culturally polite is important and imperative.
